YSHP/Bugs is dedicated to the idea that drama is an integral part of
the human experience. The program is designed to offer young people the
opportunity to learn in a dynamic, fun, and challenging way.
The curriculum instills fundamental growth skills: teamwork,
interpersonal communication, reading, comprehension, self-confidence,
self-discipline and leadership; while fostering creativity, imagination
and a playful curiosity. This training ground prepares students to not
only succeed in their personal endeavors, but also to audition for our
main stage shows for performers and audiences of all ages.
Our goal is to help kids cooperate, communicate, create and celebrate
through theatre.
Teachers
Rebecca Kramer

Hi there! I am so excited to be part of YSHP/Bugs. It started as a
wish and has grown so much. This will be my seventh year teaching and
developing this program. I have watched a few of the Players grow up
over the years, and I have watched them go from Bugs to Players. It has
been a privilege to be part of their lives.
Currently I am the Vice President and House Manager of Slocum House
Theatre. I also direct and produce main stage productions. I have been
on the board for 15 years and volunteered at the theatre for 28 years.
In my everyday life I have a husband, Garry, and five children:
Chris, Cory, Casey, Ben and McKenzie. I work as a paraeducator in
Special Ed for the Vancouver School District. I also co-direct the all
school play at Thomas Jefferson Middle School.
William Johnson

William Johnson is a graduate of the American Musical and Dramatic
Academy with experience singing, dancing, and acting and is pleased to
return to the Young Slocum House Players for a second year. Previous
favorite roles include Puck in a Midsummer Night's dream, Ragpicker in
The Madwoman of Chaillot, and Jack in Jack Sprat: Low-Fat World Tour.
William is currently enrolled at Western Washington University getting
his degree in theater education.
